Pompano Beach Football Club, Wishes All a Happy and Prosperous 2008
Volume III

January 2, 2008

PBFC (soccer) - PAL Hammerheads rested since their appearances at the National Tournament in July 2007. Practices began in October and four teams competed in the winter Apopka tournament during December.

Players from the Under 17 Boys and Under 17 Girls along with the Under 15 Boys and the Under 13 Coed teams competed in the new season opener. The Under 17 Boys were rusty and did not fair well against the opponents. The Under 17 Girls competed hard and in the Championship game won in penalty kicks with Jessica Montanaro scoring the only goal in the final. The Under 15 Boys were undefeated in group play but were unable to complete the streak in tournament play. Finally, the Under 13 Coed team played the best games of their existence.

The Under 17 Boys and the Under 15 Boys will compete in the World Championships in January at the Disney facility.

At practice, the coaches are beginning to see the hard work pay off.  The Hammerheads will compete in a minimum of five tournaments in 2008 culminating with Nationals in July.
